Herminia S. Lopez

d. January 17, 2013

Herminia Segovia Lopez, loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, entered into the loving Kingdom of God on January 17, 2013. "Mimi," or "Tia Mina," was a beautiful, caring lady. She was born in McAllen, Texas, and lived in Edinburg all her life. She married the love of her life, Bruno Lopez Jr., and lived a wonderful fairytale marriage of fifty years. Life with Bruno, her five daughters, and six grandchildren was everything to Mimi. She instilled faith in God, pride, respect, and the need for an education in her family. Her dreams became a reality in seeing all her daughters and grandchildren attain a University degree. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, dancing, and cooking for her family, and was an avid reader of The Monitor all her life. Delcia, her youngest daughter, is the State of Texas Photographer of The Year with The Monitor. She took great pride in sewing Minga's beauty pageant gowns, while she was in high school and college. She was famous for her New Year's Eve Buenelos, receiving calls from all her family members, especially her sister, Diana Camarillo, to come and make Buenelos for the Camarillo family. She was the life of the party at the Segovia Family Reunions. She attended all their weddings and made sure that all her nephews danced with her. "Mimi" loved to dance. On her wedding day, June 29, 1953, she had the famous "Montanes Del Alamo," and "Alegres de Teran" play at her and Bruno's wedding. On January 11, 2013, she told Minga that she had danced the night before all night long with her husband. Rowdy, Rikko, Russen, Krystyna, Karyna, and Eli were her "Heart Loved" grandchildren. She cared for them as babies, teenagers, and adults. They were allowed to jump on her bed, run all over the house, and crash her cars. She was their protector and defender all her life. Each was special to her in their own way, and each carry a piece of her heart within them. "Mimi" was their real Mom, the love of their lives. "Tia Mina" was special to all those who she met and loved. She will be an angel to all that were touched by her. She was special and unique, in her own special way. Minga, Dalyla, Sylvia, Alida, and Delcia are her five beautiful daughters. She took great pride in their education, perseverance of life, and always instilled faith, family unity, and love for each other. "Mimi" would always say, "In the end, you all will only have each other; no one will love you like your sister's and your family." She is survived by Mrs. Dominga A. Vela, Rowdy, and Russen Vela, Dalyla (Juan) Alaniz, and Rikko Alaniz, Sylvia Salinas, Krystyna and Karyna Salinas, Alida Suarez and Eli Suarez, Delcia Lopez, and Mopsi, and Gorda, her dogs; sister, Diana (Leonardo) Camarillo and family; sister-in-law, Mrs. Dolores Segovia, Mrs. Adelina Segovia, Mrs. Josefina Segovia, and Segovia families. She is preceded in eternal life by her husband, Bruno Lopez Jr.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnulfo Segovia; brothers, Ramon, Melecio, and Arnulfo Segovia Jr.; son-in-law, Coach Robert R. Vela. As we grieve with heavy heart, her daughters and grandchildren, we realize that "Mimi" is now with one of the loves of her life, her husband Bruno. They are dancing in the music of Eternity. One day, too, we will join them and dance together as a family. We love you, Mimi! Viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 20, 2013, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. A church service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Legacy Chapels of Edinburg is in charge of funeral arrangements.
