MELINA GARCIA SILVA
PALMHURST, TEXAS - Melina Silva Garcia 45, cherished mother, sister and wife, passed away Tuesday, December 15th, 2015 at 8:25 pm at University General Hospital in Houston, Texas after a long and inspiring battle with cancer. She is gone too soon.
As a proud graduate of Texas State University with a Computer Systems degree, Melina's career flourished as a Senior Software Analyst for PSJA ISD for over 20 years. She leaves an extended work family that will miss and forever cherish working alongside her. Her earlier years were spent mostly in Corpus Christi, TX where she graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School.
Melina will forever be remembered as a vibrant, beautiful and adoring sister, wife, mother, daughter, colleague and friend. She lived a life of sustaining faith, optimistic attitude and an ever growing circle of influence. She had passion for music and dance, family and friends. She was a private person and always looked out more for her caregivers than herself. One who rarely complained about her struggle, she was always the first to say thank you. She enjoyed traveling with her family and mentoring and praying for others. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, as well as Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen.
Melina Garcia Silva was born on December 21, 1969 in Odessa, Texas as the 2nd of four children to Alfredo and Sylvia Irene Garcia. She is survived by her parents, her loving husband of 13 years Israel Silva and their three beautiful daughters - Taylor Renee (12), Julia Nicole (8) and Brooke Elizabeth Silva (8). She is also survived by her two sisters Nidia Rolette of Round Rock, TX and Rebecca Guerrero of Kyle, TX and brother Alfredo Garcia Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 9pm with a 7pm Rosary on Monday, December 21, 2015, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
