Arlyn Eric Olson
McAllen - Arlyn Eric Olson, 62, went to be with our Lord, Friday, November 20, 2015. He was born in the Philippines to Alvin Olson and Vivian Olson. He graduated from Chatsworth High School in California and attended college for two years online.
Mr. Olson's music career began in Los Angeles, he played the keyboard and was one of the lead singers in the band "The Standells". After preforming for a couple of years, he decided to leave Los Angeles and move to Canada. He then joined the "Jerry Doucette Band" where he co-authored a hit song "All I Wanna Do". One day he encountered a life altering experience that made him devote his talents to the Lord. His music ministry revolved around various churches by singing and playing the piano. He loved to share his faith and knowledge of the bible to all who would listen. Arlyn was given the opportunity to perform with the "Youth with a Mission" (YWAM), which is a worldwide mission organization. Through these opportunities he was allowed to travel throughout Great Britain, Canada, Mexico, and the United States. He received his certificate of ordination in April of 1995 from the New Life Ministries International. His divine gift called him to the Christian music ministry and he began leading music worship in various churches…Saint John's Episcopal Church, Saint Peter & Saint Paul Episcopal Church, Conway Avenue Baptist Church, among others. He also taught music and provided private piano lessons at Saint John's Day School and Horizon Montessori School. He was also the contemporary worship leader at St. Peter and St. Paul Episcopal Church in Mission, Texas. In 2014, he was inspired to record his own original songs through the Tate Music Group. His CD, "Soul Survivor" was published this past year which includes the single, "Lord of All". He treasured every opportunity he was given to play the piano and sing in front of an audience, in hopes that the individuals listening would find Gods' love. If you would like to help fulfill his last wishes you can either request to purchase a physical CD through his Facebook page or share his "Lord of All" music video. These efforts are to promote Gods' love that is displayed within Arlyn's works. He enjoyed relaxing on the beach and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed watching the Walking Dead and the FOX News debates for the 2016 presidential election.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Vivian Olson; and his brother Mark Olson. Mr. Olson is survived by his wife of 4 years, Evangelina Olson; four children, Micah, Joshua, Evette and Ashlyn; a granddaughter; a brother, Randy Olson; numerous nieces, nephews and aunts.
