Juan David Ortiz

January 1, 1963 — July 3, 2022

JUAN DAVID ORTIZ San Carlos - Juan David Ortiz (JD), 59, entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Doctor’s Renaissance Hospital in Edinburg TX, with his wife Mary by his side. JD is preceded in death by his parents Nicolas Ortiz and Emilia G. Ortiz. JD as he was known to all his family and friends was a genuine cowboy. Boots, jeans, buckles, and hats/caps all day every day. JD was one of the hardest working cowboys you could have ever met. JD had a true love and passion for roping cattle and rodeo competitions. Although JD was dealing with unimaginable pain, he would give all he could at work and to his family and friends. He had a laugh that would brighten anybody’s day. He was a witting jokester who had a passion for life. And always had everyone laughing. He loved to dance to Tejano and Country Music. He loved his favorite horse, Johnny. JD also will now be reunited with his most favorite of pets Princess. JD enjoyed watching all sports, but his favorite sport was football, and his team was The Dallas Cowboys. JD was one of the best top hands to have ever worked for USDA-Aphis (Tick Inspector) for Starr, Cameron, and Hidalgo Counties, as well as 25 years working for Starr Yard Feed Lot. He will be greatly missed by all his family, friends, and co-workers. JD had so many wonderful friends. He touched so many lives in his brief time on earth. We were all so fortunate to have been a part of his life. He will be greatly missed and was greatly loved by all. THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY TO HEAVEN’S RANCH JD is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Saenz-Ortiz; brother in laws, Fransico+ (Diana), Daniel (Magda), Joe (Janie), Macario (Maribel+), Jesus (Maria) Saenz and sisters in law, Juanita (Pedro) Marroquin, Filomena (Arturo+) Arcuate, brother Ricardo Ortiz (Amanda), sister Yolanda Alaniz, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pall Bearers will be Laco Villarreal, Carlos Salinas, Mike Spellane, Jaime Garza, Eddie Saenz, Catarino Rodriguez, Adrian “Piston” Flores, Quirino “Kinno” Vela. A special thank you goes out to all the staff/family at USDA-Aphis for all you did for JD and Mary Saenz-Ortiz. Special thanks are given to Eberardo and Norma Torres.
