LEE DOUGLAS
PALMHURST - Lee Edward Douglas died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 28, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Lee was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 22, 1952, to George Douglas and Cynthia Ann Cummings Douglas. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Lee is survived by his wife, Argelia, and his daughters, Christina, Ana, and Andrea. His siblings are Don Douglas, Sue Ann Bulau, George Douglas, Champie Douglas, Margo Douglas, Denise Douglas, and Omar Douglas.
Lee lived in Arizona in his youth and spent his summers at Los Alisos Ranch in Sonora, Mexico, where he became fluent in Spanish. He graduated from the University of Arizona and worked for the K-Mart Corporation as a manager for seventeen years. After moving to Texas with his wife, he became a teacher at Mission I.S.D. Lee was a kindergarten teacher at Arturo Cantu Elementary School in Alton, Texas, for twenty years.
Lee was a natural teacher and loved to teach not just reading and writing, but also a love of nature, respect for the environment, science, and politics. Lee was a fountain of knowledge. He was an avid sportsman that enjoyed fishing in many places around the world, including Alaska, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Belize, and Brazil. He enjoyed cooking his catch in many different, delicious ways. Lee was also a passionate and well-informed gardener. He created his own personal Eden in his backyard, complete with fruit trees, vegetables, flowers and berries. He was an excellent cook and pie maker. He was also the family handyman, fixing things around his house and his wife’s business.
He was diagnosed with and succumbed to a brain tumor.
Lee will be greatly missed by his family, friends, former students, and anybody that had the opportunity to spend time with him.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life Service, on Wednesday June 1, 2022, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.
Funeral Services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
