JOSE SERRATO CASTILLO
SAN JUAN - Jose Serrato Castillo, 86, went home to our Lord, March 28, 2022, in Conroe, Texas. He was born in General Zaragoza, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Jose was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. Castillo was preceded in death by his parents, Arcadio and Julia Castillo; two brothers, Pedro Castillo and Alejandro Castillo; three sisters, Maria Castillo De La Rosa, Vicenta Castillo Arreazola, and Tomasa Castillo; a son-in-law, Oscar R. Cardenas.
He was an honest, hardworking, noble gentleman who enjoyed taking flowers for his wife, hunting, fishing, playing cards and was always open to a game of Chalupa. He was known for his gentle soul and although he was soft-spoken, he had a witty sense of humor. He loved the outdoors and developed a love of drawing.
Jose is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 64 years, Josefina Pedraza Castillo; two daughters, Dora Cárdenas of Conroe; Julia (Edgar) Perez of Conroe; his son, Jaime (Patty) Castillo of New Braunfels; four grandchildren, Christina (Roy) Taylor, Jessica (Marco) Barbato, Amanda Perez, and Johann Castillo; six great-grandchildren, Magdalena, River, Titus, and Ofelia Taylor, Ardriana and Valentina Barbato; his two sisters, Trinidad Vargas of Crosby, and Severa Castillo of Mexico.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

José Serrato Castillo, de 86 años de edad, fue a casa de nuestro Señor, el 28 de marzo de 2022, en Conroe, Texas. Nació en General Zaragoza, Nuevo León, México. A finales de los años 70, se mudó de California a Pharr, luego a San Juan antes de establecerse en Conroe. Era un amoroso esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo, hermano y amigo.
Fue un caballero honesto, trabajador y noble que nunca se le olvidaba llevarle flores a su pareja. Disfrutaba de la caza, la pesca, el juego de barajas y siempre estaba listo para un juego de Chalupa. Era conocido por su alma gentil y, aunque era de voz suave, tenía un ingenioso sentido del humor. Amaba el aire libre y desarrolló un amor por el dibujo.
Le preceden en la muerte sus dos hermanos, Pedro Castillo y Alejandro Castillo, sus tres hermanas, María Castillo De La Rosa, Vicenta Castillo Arreazola y Tomasa Castillo. A José le sobreviven su devota y amorosa esposa de 64 años, Josefina Pedraza Castillo; hijas, Dora (+Oscar) Cárdenas de Conroe; Julia (Edgar) Pérez de Conroe; su hijo Jaime Castillo (Patty) de New Braunfels; 4 nietos; Christina (Roy) Taylor de Colorado, Jessica (Marco) Barbato de The Woodlands, Amanda Pérez de Austin, Johann Castillo de New Braunfels; 6 bisnietos: Magdalena, River, Titus y Ofelia Taylor; Ardriana y Valentina Barbato y sus dos hermanas, Trinidad Vargas de Crosby y Severa Castillo de México.
