Edinburg- Roberto B. Chavez, 88, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at his residence in Edinburg. He was born to Teofilo and Paula Chavez in Edinburg, where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a hardworking, religious and loving family man. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. Mr. Chavez retired after 20 years as a tax appraiser for the Hidalgo County Appraisal District. He was a devoted family man and a good and helpful friend to many. He enjoyed hunting, watching football games, going out for coffee in the mornings, barbecuing and spending time with his family whom he loved very dearly. He will be greatly missed.
Roberto is preceded in death by his wife, Herminia L. Chavez; son, Robert Chavez, Jr.; his parents; two brothers: Francisco Chavez and Jose B. Chavez. He leaves behind six children: Rosa (Lopez), Edmundo, Rodolfo, Ramiro (& Sieglinde), Rene and Reymundo Chavez, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Esperanza Sandoval.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 10:00am to 5:00pm with a rosary beginning at 3:00pm at Legacy Funeral Home in Edinburg. The funeral mass will be at 10:00am on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
