Maria Delordes Bocanegra & Alexa Monserrat Cruz

HARLINGEN HARLINGEN - María de Lourdes Bocanegra was born December 13, 1966 in Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, México. She was the youngest of three children to her late mother, María de la Paz Arreguín. Lourdes “LuLu” moved to Texas in 1987 after her beautiful wedding in Matehuala to her surviving husband of thirty three years, Monico Bocanegra Jr. As an essential worker at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas for the past 15 years those that had the pleasure of working with her knew she was kind and very hardworking. She led with these traits in her personal life as well; having a big heart was simply a part of her everyday presence. Maternal instincts came naturally to Lulu so when she and Monico became grandparents, they fully embraced their new roles and let the joy of the children overfill their hearts. Alexa Monserrat “Monse” Cruz was born on April 14, 2016. Her porcelain skin, black curly hair, big eyes and beautiful smile weren’t her only attributes. She was the eldest of four grandchildren. Monse was the precocious speaker and fearless leader of the bunch. She took great pride in her role as big sister and loved caring for her younger siblings. Her claim to fame was being grandpa’s sidekick. They loved spending time together. It did not matter where grandpa was going, she too, was ready for their upcoming adventure. She was also excited about starting the PreK3 Program in Donna, TX. She knew school was going to be fun and she was ready to partake in all those new events. With great sadness in our hearts we inform you that LuLu and Monse gained their angel wings on September 12, 2020 and are now resting in the Kingdom of the Lord. They will be greatly missed by all that loved them. Together they are survived by husband/grandpa Monico Bocanegra Jr, daughter/mother Yesenia Bocanegra, son-in-law/father Christian Alexis Sr, grandchildren/siblings: Christian Alexis Jr “Toto”, Daleyza Isabella Cruz “Deli”, and Ayleen Alexandra Cruz “Kiwi” as well as mother in-law/great-grandma María Sandoval, Donna, TX, paternal grandma María Segundo, Mission, TX and many tías and tíos, nieces and nephews and cousins from south Texas all the way to México.
