Maria DeJesus Morin, 88, of Soledad, passed away on October 16, 2014, while visiting family in Texas. Maria's husband of 34 years, Serafin (Shorty) Morin, Jr., passed away in 1987 and she will be laid to rest alongside him in Soledad. She was born August 25, 1926 in San Javier Mexico. She moved with her family from Idaho to Soledad in 1966 where she lived until her passing. She is survived by three daughters and two sons; Rosa Gortarez (widowed) of Pharr, Texas, Arnold J. Morin and spouse J.D. of Pittsburg, Anna Morin of San Jose, Beatrice Nunez and spouse Manuel of Soledad, and Serafin Morin, III and spouse Gloria of Salinas. She also leaves a brother, Pablo Salazar of Pharr, Texas, and two sisters, Berta Gomez of Pharr, Texas, and Zulema Garcia of Greenfield. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Maria retired from B&P Packing Company of Soledad in 1991, and she continued to live an active life. After she retired she worked as a foster grandmother for the Head-Start Program in Soledad for many years until 2012. She will be remembered as a vibrant, caring and loving person. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15th at Woodyard Funeral Home at 12 noon, followed with burial at Soledad Cemetery.
