EDINBURG- Velda Lopez Chavez, 68, went to her eternal home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in McAllen. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her parents, Ramiro L. and Palmira R. Lopez; her sister, Iris Lopez; sister-in-law, Brenda H. Lopez; brother-in-law, Larry Trevino.
Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband Rene Chavez; four siblings, Raul R. Lopez, Norma Lopez (Delfino) Loredo, Sonia Lopez (Marco) Pedraza and DeeDee Lopez (Karl) Boltie; numerous nieces and nephews; all who loved her dearly.
Mrs. Chavez graduated from Pan American University with a degree in Biology and worked many years as a Phlebotomist under Dr’s Terrell, Caldwell and Felici and concluded her career doing Social Work where she compassionately helped others.
Mrs. Chavez was a very faithful woman who loved first and foremost the Lord our God, her family, friends, church and community. She never met a stranger, she greeted all with a smile and kind words. She was always joyful and shared her cheer with her cute laughter. She was fun loving and lived life to the fullest. She will be missed wholeheartedly.
Rosary will be at 9 a.m. followed by the funeral mass on Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 114 W Fay Street in Edinburg. Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
