ROSA AMELIA AVILA DE CASTILLO
EDINBURG - Rosa Amelia Avila de Castillo, 81, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in Edinburg surrounded by her family. Born in Cd. Anahuac, N.L., Mexico and previously from Rio Bravo, Tamps., Mexico and Hidalgo she had lived Edinburg for the past 15 years. Mrs. Castillo is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Maximino Castillo; her parents, Juan and Ceferina Avila; two brothers, Juan and Manuel Avila Roque; her sister, Bacilisa Muñoz.
Mrs. Castillo studied cosmetology and became a beautician. She and her sister Bacilisa owned and operated their own Beauty Salon. Rosa also worked for Stanley Home Products and the Hidalgo I.S.D. Cafeteria Department. Mrs. Castillo was widowed early in her marriage and was left behind to raise her four young children. She always was a stern believer in bringing up her sons to work hard and obtain the best education they could. Mrs. Castillo enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Mrs. Castillo is survived by her four children, Juan Manuel Castillo-Avila, Jesus Maximino Castillo-Avila, Sergio (Missy) Castillo-Avila and Jaime Francisco (Haydee) Castillo-Avila; six grandchildren; three sisters, Oralia Aguilar, San Juana Alday and Maria Del Refugio Cortez; two brothers, Esteban and Juan Jose Avila-Roque; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hidalgo City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jaime Francisco Castillo Jr., Isaac Castillo, Alejandro Castillo, Sergio Aaron Castillo, Jesus Rodolfo Castillo and Juan Jose Avila-Roque.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
