McAllen- Our brave hero, Robert Torres, 48, passed away into his eternal home on Friday, November 9th 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was welcomed with open arms into the gates of heaven by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and his parents Ascencion "Chon" and Rebecca "Becky" Torres.
Left to cherish his memory is Cristela, his caring and devoted wife, his children Matthew (Jessica) Torres, His twins Robert Jr., and Rebekah Torres and stepson Michael Alaniz. He is also survived by three sisters; Dina (Arnoldo) Castillo, Debbie (Armando) Cobos, and Dahlia (Edward) Dimas; and various nieces and nephews of Edinburg, Texas.
Although he was the only son to his family, he was honored of having a special relationship with one hundred and eighty one extraordinary brothers from the McAllen Fire Department. Each one of them will always have a special place in his heart.
After graduating from Memorial High School in 1983, he attended the University of Texas at Pan American and in 1986, graduated from the McAllen Fire Department Cadet Class #18. He dedicated 25 years of service to the McAllen Fire Department.
Robert was a simple, loving, warm hearted man who enjoyed the daily pleasures of life. He loved working and maintaining his lawn, weekend cook-outs among the company of his family and friends, trips to the island in summertime and was an avid, loyal, and faithful Dallas Cowboys Fan. Win or lose, he supported America's Team.
His greatest blessing in life was his family and faith in the Lord, whom he has now joined and rests peacefully in the Kingdom of Heaven.
