Reynaldo Gonzalez, 71, went to be with our Lord Thursday, May 5, 2016.
He was born in Delmita, Texas and had lived in McAllen for the past 30 years. Rey was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. Born and raised in Delmita, he proudly served his country in Vietnam. Returning home, Rey and the love of his life Elida met at a Valentine's Day dance in McAllen. After living in Grand Prairie and Corpus Christi -- welcoming his children Audra and Rey Jr. into the world, the Gonzalez's moved to Harlingen and added Jaime and Jorge Andres to the family. The Gonzalez's moved to and lived their life as a family for 30 years in McAllen while working for Lack's for 35 years. Rey frequently enjoyed hunting, fishing, cultivating life in his beautiful gardens, and visiting his family and grandkids to BBQ and share stories. The family was full of a lot of laughter, a lot of love, and unending smiles from Rey as he so enjoyed being around his family and were his source of pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Narciso and Gregoria Gonzalez; two brothers, Ismael and Alejos Gonzalez; and a sister, Abner Castaneda.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his wife, Elida Gonzalez; four children, Audra Lisa Gonzalez, Reynaldo (Karla) Gonzalez, Jr., Jaime R. Gonzalez, and Jorge Andres Gonzalez; five grandchildren, Katherine Nicole Lopez, Matthew Rodriguez, Brandon Rey Gonzalez, Vanessa Nicole Gonzalez, and Joseph Emmanuel Gonzalez; a sister, Alicia (Roberto) Gonzalez; three brothers, Servando (Eva) Gonzalez, Moises (Carmen) Gonzalez, and Narciso (Rosa) Gonzalez.
Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, May 9, 2016, at Legacy Chapels, 4610 S. Jackson Rd. in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission promptly at 11 a.m. with Military Honors.
