MCALLEN- Rene Arcaute Garcia, 86, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 26, 2023, in McAllen. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his son, Joel "Chubby" Garcia; his parents, Nicolas and Concepcion Garcia; his brother, Humberto Garcia. Mr. Garcia was a proud US Army veteran having served his country during the Korean Conflict. For many years, he was a dedicated member of the American Legion, assisted with veteran affairs ceremonies throughout the city of McAllen through the VFW (Veteran of Foreign Wars), and most significantly served as part of the funeral guard for our fallen heroes as well as soldiers & veterans who died from natural causes.
Mr. Garcia was a faithful servant of God who loved his bible and knew his bible verses. He was committed to his religious faith by attending bible study and volunteering at Sacred Heart Church during his active years. Rene went from being a migrant worker at a young age to getting a Business degree which served him well in his promotions in his work life. He retired from the Coca Cola management team after having faithfully committed more than 35 plus years of employment. Rene was a licensed electric journeyman whose hobby was to assist family members and friends with home building projects. He cherished his loved ones and dedicated his life to being the strength and support of his family. Rene wished for his children to be independent, educated and productive American citizens which they all have followed suit. He was an intelligent, talented, serious, simple man who is deeply loved and will be missed by his family and loved ones.
Mr. Garcia survived by his wife, Hortencia Garcia; three children, Roel Eduardo (Luzdivina) Garcia, Roberto "Bobby" Rene (Juliana) Garcia and Sonia Araceli Garcia; three siblings, Carolina Goldstein, Alicia Ramos, and Rogelio (Hortencia) Garcia; his sister-in-law, Dinah Garcia; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission with full military honors.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
