Petra "Tita" Saldivar

MCALLEN. Petra A. Saldivar, lovingly known as “Tita” passed away at the age of 92. She was called home to our Lord on March 3, 2025, where she was welcomed by her beloved husband, Manuel Ramiro Saldivar Sr., sons Ismael and Israel Saldivar, and great grandson Daniel Saldaña

Petra’s legacy lives on through all that loved and cared for her. She is survived by her children, Sandra Saldivar, Manuel (Noemi) Saldivar Jr., Sonia Saldivar, and Iric Christopher Saldivar; eleven grandchildren, Cariño Aimé (Juan), Manuel III, Marcos Rene, Ismael (Jobia), Jonathan (Blanca), Monica (John), Erica (Adam), Selina, Selica (Juan), Christina (Jorge), and Carianna (Aaron); daughters in law, Jo Ann Saldivar and Rosa Maria Saldivar, 19 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-grand pets; two siblings, Cruzita Senio, and Polo Abrego; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family who will continue to honor her memory.

Tita was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and gentle strength. Her greatest joy in life was her family, who will miss her dearly. She was a woman of simple pleasures—her daily coffee, a cinnamon roll or McDonald’s McDouble cheeseburger or making the perfect empanada for those she loved. It brought a smile to her face to accept the occasional invitation to gamble in Las Vegas or Louisiana. Tita’s happiness & perseverance was a gift to us; she taught all those who met her love, resilience, and the importance of family.

The family would also like to express deep gratitude to Iric Saldivar and Mari Segundo, Tita’s devoted caretakers who offered both care and companionship during her later years.

Tita’s memory will live on in the stories we share, the lessons she taught us, and the family she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
