EDINBURG - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pedro Trevino Jr., 86, who left us on December 18th, 2024. Pedro was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Luciana Trevino; siblings, Jesus Trevino, Simon Trevino, Francisca Marroquin, and Margarita Fonseca.
Pedro lived his life with a deep sense of love, commitment, and pride. As a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather he devoted himself to his family and always put them first. Pedro had a passion for Mexican music, with a particular fondness for the sounds of Mariachi, and artists like Aida Cuevas, Vicente Fernandez, Lucha Villa—whom he jokingly referred to as his wife—and the iconic Juan Gabriel. His love for these tunes was part of what made him the vibrant, joyful soul he was. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling, especially to Mexico where he enjoyed the culture. Whether on a trip or closer to home, Pedro treasured time spent with his family especially at Poncho's Restaurant, where he enjoyed his famous "copas de nada". He also loved shopping trips to Dillard's, which he made a weekend routine, always eager to find something special for his loved ones. And no meal or celebration was complete without his sweets especially Luby's carrot cake.
Mr. Trevino is survived by his wife, Maria Estella Trevino; five children, Brenda Lynn (Jose Flores) Trevino, Oscar Lee (Charlene) Trevino, Charles Eric (Aida) Trevino, Omar Ryan (Andrea) Trevino, and Mark Bryan Trevino; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; two siblings, Jose Trevino, and Linda Echavarria.
Pedro Trevino Jr. will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the music we play, and the traditions he so lovingly passed down. Rest in peace, Pedrito. Your legacy of love and laughter will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.
