PHARR - Nathan Schwarz, 40, entered eternal rest on Friday, December 29, 2023. Nathan is preceded in death by his father, Roy ‘Buzz’ L. Schwarz Jr.; his grandparents, Roy L. Schwarz Sr., Leslie Gower, and Ronetta Gower Pfotenhauer. Nathan was a proud alumnus of The Science Academy, he graduated in 2001 and went on to earn double majors in English and Anthropology from the University of Texas Pan American.
Nathan's legacy is marked by his compassionate spirit and his unwavering dedication to social justice. He co-founded Proyecto Azul an organization devoted to advocating for the residents of the Rio Grande Valley. His deep-rooted passion for aiding those in need, coupled with his creative and thoughtful approach to problem-solving, left an indelible impact on the community also Co- Founder of Election Integrity Advocates an non-partisan group that focused on voter advocacy, and Founder of ZeroPointRGV an Informational Technology Company.
He is survived by his loving family, his mother, Leslie Anne Gower; brother, Eric Schwarz; 2 aunts, Stephanie Gower and Delores Padgett; Uncle, David Gower; grandmother, Virginia Schwarz; 4 cousins, John Davis Gower, Kimberly Pogue, Heather Padgett Smith, and Chelsea Pendleton; numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Visitation will continue Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Life of Celebration at Legacy Chapels.
The service will have some of Nathan’s favorite foods prepared to serve to those who come and share this time with us.
Nathan's commitment to bettering the lives of others and his profound ability to connect with those around him will be dearly missed. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
