EDINBURG - Modesta R. Leal, 86, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Edinburg. Mrs. Leal was preceded in death by her husband, Jose M. Leal; six siblings, Arnulfo Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez, Yolanda Rodriguez Lomas, Oralia Zulema Barron, and Eva Santana; her son-in-law, Eduardo Escareño

Mrs. Leal is survived by her six children, Anna M. Escareño, Jose M. Leal Jr., Norma E. Candanoza, Juanita E. Leal, Irma E. Leal, and Nancy I. Leal; six grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Paulia Rodriguez Luera, and Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Harlingen. Interment will follow at Monte Meta Cemetery in San Benito.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
