PHARR - Maximo P. Hernandez, 74, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Pharr surrounded by his family. Mr. Hernandez was preceded in death by his parents, Hilario and Refugia Hernandez; brother, Manuel Hernandez; sister-in-law, Minerva Hernandez; son-in-law, Jesse Lucio.
Mr. Hernandez was a retired Deputy with over 25 years of service with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's office. He was a proud veteran having served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and a member of the Texas Army National Guard.
Mr. Hernandez is survived by his wife, Hortencia Hernandez; four children, Marisol Hernandez Lucio, Saul M. (Monica) Hernandez, Hilario Hernandez, and Miraida (Alan) Baxter; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his brother, Louis Hernandez; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2024, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley Veterans Cemetery in Mission with full military honors.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
