Mark Edward Garza, 46, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, June 16, 2013, in Brooklyn, NY. He was born on April 17, 1967, to Dr. Marin Garza and Palmira Garza.
Mark attended St. Joseph Catholic School, Edinburg High School, The University of Texas at Austin, and UTPA. After graduating from college, Mark moved back to what he loved to call "his city," Austin. After 20 years there, he received a promotion and moved to New York City. He was a Commercial Account Executive, NYC Metro Area, for VMware. He immediately fell in love with the culture and diversity of the city. Mark was an amazing young man who touched the hearts and souls of everyone he met. He had an infectious laugh which he was known for. He was a great friend and brother to many. He had a huge heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had an amazing talent for bringing people together.
The best word to describe Mark is "passionate". He was passionate about his family and friends, travel, music, and his guitars. He loved The Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn Football. Every year, he looked forward to going to Longhorn games with his sister, Jenna, and his cousins, Eric and Claudia Vela. There are so many wonderful memories and stories that he generously left with us.
Mark will be deeply missed, there are no words to express this. Heaven earned an amazing angel. He leaves behind a devastated family who adores him.
He is survived by his mother, Palmira Garza; his father and step-mother, Dr. Marin and Peggy Garza; sisters Tessa (Wally) Pequeno and Jenna (Brandon) Hausenfluck; brother Sean (Kelly) Roberts; nephews and nieces: Tori (Roland) Guevara, Carlos Garcia, Isabella Garcia, Mack Roberts, Henry Hausenfluck, Dylan and Zachary Guevara.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
