Maria Elena Garza

EDINBURG - Maria Elena Garza, 76, went to her eternal home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, September 17, 2022\, in Edinburg. Maria fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith (II Timothy 4:7). She was preceded in death by her parents, Norberto and Hermelinda Melendez; her siblings, Sixto Melendez, Esperanza Sanchez, Norberto Melendez Jr., Julian Melendez, and Alfredo Melendez.

Maria loved doing puzzles, playing chalupa, collecting Angels, but most importanly spending quality time with her family. She will always be loved and forever missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Garza is survived by her husband, Homero Garza Sr.; three children, Homer (Chistine) Garza Jr., Horacio Garza, and Mabel (Benjamin Rodriguez) Garza; five grandchildren, Horacio Jr., Elena, Benjamin III, Sophia, and Bradley; her great-granddaughter, Analise Garza; her sister, Guadalupe Melendez; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
