Pharr - Maria E. "Fela" Guerra, 87, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Pharr surrounded by her family. Mrs. Guerra was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Concepcion Enriquez; four siblings, Elisandro Enriquez, Manuel Enriquez, Alicia Espinoza, and Aurelia Enriquez.
It is with saddened hearts that we express that our beloved Maria “Fela” Guerra, 87, of Pharr, Texas has gone to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Fela was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who devoted her self to the Lord. She went to church consistently and never failed to share her faith with those around her. As a paraprofessional for PSJA ISD for over 30 years, she was dedicated to serving others. Through out her life, she was very creative and was a seamstress who loved designing her own outfits to match her shoes. She loved to dance and share her enthusiasm with others. She spent her time slowly building her home to fit all of her crafts and holiday decor. Holidays were special to Fela as she decorated her home for every holiday. There wasn’t a holiday in which she did not decorate the inside and outside of her home. She made it a point to leave special mementos and hand sewn items with those closest to her that will be cherished forever. Her most love was anything about Mickey Mouse. Although Gramita’s stature was petite, her legacy will not be as she endlessly blessed those around her with inspiration, love, and support.
Mrs. Guerra is survived by her 3 children, Criselda (Fernando) Botello, Abelardo (Ana Bell) Guerra Jr., and Marynell (Charlie) Garcia; seven grandchildren, Celina, Tommy, Frank, Lori, Amanda, Charlie Jr., and Rolando; 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchldren; three siblings, Arturo Enriquez, Maria Elena Cantu, and Raul Gallegos; numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
