On Sunday, June 16, 2024, Louis Robbins of San Juan, Texas left his earthly home and entered Heaven at the age of 96. He was born on November 11, 1927 in Mission, Texas.
Louis was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved the Lord with all his heart and he found joy in serving Him through his church and numerous ministries. He was very active in the San Juan Baptist Church, serving as a member of the Grounds and Building Committee and as a deacon for many years.
Louis was proud to be a veteran. He joined the Navy and served in World War II. After his time in the Navy, Louis worked as a bridge builder for the Highway Department before starting his own business in the oilfield services industry. Louis was a lifetime member of The Gideons International. He served faithfully as a member of the Weslaco Mid-Valley Camp until his death.
Louis is survived by his three children: John Robbins, Vickey Terveen, and Floyd Robbins (Ginette). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sam Robbins (Nicky), Matthew Robbins, Melissa Stakes, Stephanie Watson (Chad), Amy Cantu, Vanessa Lowry (Will), Christopher Robbins, Jason Robbins (Vivian), Justin Robbins (Sierra), Robert Robbins-Skalitsky (Chrystal), and Cassidy Robbins. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Levi Robbins, Wesley and Carson Stakes, Hunter and Colton Thornton, Taylor Cantu, Liam Lowry, Colton Robbins, Dale Robbins, and Haddie Robbins-Skalitsky.
Louis is preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Helen Robbins; his parents; son, Louis Robert Robbins; son-in-law, Kenneth Terveen; and daughter, Pamela Ann Funk.
A church service will be held June 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in San Juan, Texas with a reception to follow in the church Fellowship Hall. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International or the charity of your choice.
