LIDIA DE JESUS RAMOS
EDINBURG - Lidia De Jesus Ramos, 77, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 4, 2023, in Edinburg surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ramos was preceded in death by her parents, Telesforo and Guadalupe De La Garza; four sibings, Telesforo De La Garza Jr., Conrado Cedillio, Juanita Estimbo, and Encarnacion Marez.
Our mother, Lidia, was one of a kind, she was as sweet as can be and at the same time Mom could be the meanest person you ever met if you messed with one of her loved ones or just any innocent person for that matter. Mommy loved to help people, we remember growing up getting a little upset because she would always be occupied helping others, little did we know she was teaching us to be kind and to always be there for people. Mom loved to feed people also, she would make her fresh tortillas everyday and not one was left. She was known for her tortillas and all her food really.
Everyone knew mom was the disciplinarian in the house, with one look she had us behaving ourselves in an instant. When we said she could be the nicest or meanest it was the same with us, if we behaved she could be the nicest but if we misbehaved she let us have it. Our mother was a happy person, full of life, if anyone knew her they knew she loved to dance.
My sister and I ( Betty ) loved for her to take us out dancing, we picked that up from her. All of us learned something from my mother, from helping others, to feeding people and of course you had to know your manners.
Mrs. Ramos is survived by her husband, Alberto Ramos Jr.; seven children, Albert Ramos III, Maria Julia Hurtado, George (Elizabeth) Ramos, Betty Ann (Raymundo Ramirez) Ramos, Maria Magdalena "Maggie" (Andrew) Yoo, Jessica (Fernando) Garcia, and Ruben Ramos; 18 grandhcildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Maria Suaceda; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service, Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2023, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
