San Juan- Pastor Librado Burciaga, 86, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Mr. Burciaga is preceded in death by his parents, Salome Burciaga and Eustolia Nunez; four siblings, Micaela Huerta, Manuela Huerta, Celia Burciaga Nunez, and Ana Cleta Burciaga Rodriguez.
Pastor Librado was a devoted servant of the Lord, beloved by his congregation, family, and friends. He dedicated his life to the ministry, leading with grace, humility, and unwavering faith.
Born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Pastor Librado felt a call to ministry at 24. He answered that call with passion, attending Instituto Evangelistico de Mexico. After graduation, before setting up in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, as the founding pastor of Ebenezer church. After five years, he came to the United States to continue his ministry and further his theological training and education through Southern Methodist University, Perkins School of Theology. In 1988, Pastor Librado left the Methodist church to found El Shaddai Baptist Church, which he faithfully served for 33 years.
His sermons were filled with passion and wisdom, and his guidance touched countless lives. Throughout his ministry, Pastor Librado was not just a leader but a compassionate listener, counselor, and friend to many. His commitment to helping those in need sharing the Gospel reflected his deep commitment to living out his faith. He worked tirelessly to build a church that was a beacon of hope and love, always maintaining a personal connection with the church community.
Pastor Burciaga is survived by his wife, Irene Burciaga; three children, Debora Burciaga, Irene Elizabeth ( Antonio) Bolainez, and Juan Gabriel (Andrya) Burciaga; three grandchildren, Joshua O. (Roxanne) Jimenez, Mikaela L. Bolainez, and Andres G. Burciaga; one great grandchild, Liam O. Jimenez; one sibling, Adrian Burciaga; close family, Betsabe Gonzalez, and Juan Gonzalez: numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. His legacy of faith, service, and love for others will continue through the lives of those he touched.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7p.m. Prayer Service, Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 12 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
