Leonor Nieto

MCALLEN - Leonor Nieto, 92, peacefully left this world to reach her eternal home on Friday, May 3, 2024. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker in McAllen, Texas and an active member in Base Communities, choir, and prayer groups. She was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. In the 1970s, her family immigrated to South Texas. She was a very independent, hard-working woman, she had many skills and always found a way to provide for and support her family. Mrs. Nieto is preceded in death by her husband, G. Miguel Nieto, parents, Salomé Dorado and Sara Robles; her son, L. Miguel Nieto; and seven siblings. 

Mrs. Nieto is survived by her sister, Ofelia Hernández; 3 sons, Jaime, Raúl (Rosa) Nieto, Juan (Juanita) Nieto;3 daughters, Gloria A. Tamayo (Charles+), Alicia Suárez (Jorge), Reyna Juárez (Armando); 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews family and friends.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Holy Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Hidalgo City Cemetery in Hidalgo. 

May the perpetual light shine upon her and may she rest in peace.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.  

MCALLEN - Con profundo dolor les comunicamos el fallecimiento de nuestra Mama, Leonor Nieto, quien apaciblemente dejo este mundo para llegar a su hogar eterno. Fiel parroquiana de San José Obrero de McAllen Texas y miembra activa en Comunidades de Base, coro, y grupos de oración. Ella nació en Zacatecas, México.   En los años 70 su familia y ella emigraron al sur de Texas.   Fue una mujer muy independiente, trabajadora, tenia muchas habilidades y siempre encontraba la manera de proveer y sacar adelante a su familia.

Le precedieron en muerte su esposo, G. Miguel Nieto, padres, Salomé Dorado y Sara Robles, su hijo L. Miguel Nieto y siete hermanos. 

Le sobreviven su hermana Ofelia Hernández, tres hijos, Jaime, Raúl (Rosa) Nieto, Juan (Juanita) Nieto y tres hijas, Gloria A. Tamayo (Charles+), Alicia Suárez (Jorge), Reyna Juárez (Armando), trece nietos y diecinueve bisnietos, 4 tataranietos y numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas.

 Velacion se llevara a cabo en Legacy Chapels el Martes 7 de Mayo de 2024 de 3:00 a 9:00 p.m. con el Santo rosario a las 7:00 p.m.  Se celebrará una misa el Miércoles 8 de mayo de 2024 en San José Obrero en McAllen a las 11:00 a.m. para seguir con el sepelio a la 1:00 p.m. en el cementerio de la ciudad de Hidalgo.

Que brille sobre ella la luz perpetua y descanse en paz, así sea.
