MISSION - Juanita Macias Lozano, age 69, was a longtime Mission, TX resident. She was born on April 19, 1955, to Jose and Rafaela Macias in McAllen, TX. Janie passed away at Mission Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 31, 2024. She was the firstborn of a migrant family of 8 siblings. She attended and graduated from the PSJA school system in Pharr, TX. Janie then earned a Bachelor of Science in Education at Pan American College, a testament to her dedication and love for teaching. Janie taught Elementary and Junior High Education for 27 years, specializing in bilingual education. Although she retired from education, she continued to work by her husband's side as the quality control person in their family orchard business.
She met her loving husband and the love of her life in junior high. She married Jessie Lozano on March 13, 1976, at St. Margaret Mary in Pharr, TX. They had a wonderful life together for 48 years. She was a loving mother of four children. Janie's love for Jesus was always with her. She deeply cherished her children, grandchildren, family, friends, fur babies (Pops & Marlo), rare succulents/cacti, traveling, fishing, and reading. To help her cope with her cancer battle, she developed a love for painting that gave her the serenity she needed. We will forever cherish our birthday greeting Emcee and her amusing emojis; she was our birthday queen/family historian, making everybody feel included and special on their day.
Janie is preceded in death by her father, Jose Macias. Janie is survived by her husband, Jesus M. Lozano; four children, Maritza Iris (Alexander) Quintanilla, Jesus Miguel Angel (Sheila) Lozano, Anna Lisa (Reuben) Lashley, and Elizabeth Andrea Lozano; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Jeremiah, Nicholas, Cole, Ethan, and Abigail; her mother Rafaela Macias; seven siblings Diana, Mary, Joe, Yoli, Hilda, Olga, Gelacio, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many sweet and wonderful friends.
Our hearts are heavy, and Janie's passing has left an irreplaceable void in our lives. Her absence is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. Still, we are comforted knowing she is at peace and resting with our Lord and Savior. She gets to "ring the bell" in heaven because she has won the victory through Our LORD Jesus Christ.
Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God." ESV
