ISMAEL "DANNY" CUELLAR
Ismael "Danny" Cuellar was born November 2, 1934, in Edcouch, to Daniel and Dominga Cuellar.
Danny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved flying his Cessna 172 airplane. He loved working on hot rod cars during his early years and became a champion race car driver for the Famed #5 in Kokomo, Indiana. He became a diesel mechanic in the early 70's and soon after opened his own diesel service along with his wife Tammy. In the early 80's their small business became a successful Volvo truck dealership in Pharr, Texas. He was a member of various associations including TADA, NRA and ATD.
A businessman for 41 years, he leaves a legacy which touched the lives of many families; including those of his employees. He had a positive attitude and constantly shared his wisdom and knowledge. He made a difference in people's lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Dominga Cuellar; three siblings, Marie Dyer, Jose Maria Cuellar and Della Shoup.
Mr. Cuellar is survived by his wife Tammy Cuellar; two sons, Danny (Mirla) Cuellar and Mike (Laura) Cuellar; three daughters, Shelly (Roland) Lugo, Danette Black and Rhonda Lea Cuellar; six siblings, Joe (Jackie) Cuellar, Maria (Ron) Pflueger, Bertha (Hugo) Smith, Esther (Danny) Sutton, Linda Smith and Margaret (Max) King; nine grandchildren, Innette Cuellar, Eric Flores, Brandon Cuellar, Candice Cuellar, Bianca Lugo, Jacob Lugo, Priscilla Ward, Melanie Flecher and Alejandra Cuellar; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. memorial service, Saturday April 11, 2015, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
