Herlinda Y. Tijerina

Edinburg - Our Lord has called upon a great matriarch of our family. A sister, mother, grandmother and dear friend, Herlinda Young Tijerina. She was born to John Young and Estefana Garza on December 10, 1922. She is preceded in death by her husband, Julio Tijerina in 1988, and son Jose Cruz Tijerina in 2005. She is survived by five sons, Juan (Lilia) Tijerina of Edinburg, Samuel (Angie) Tijerina of San Juan, Jose Abelardo (Lola) Tijerina of Edinburg, Julio TIjerina Jr. of Pharr, Arnoldo (Lucilia) Tijerina of Edinburg; two daughters; Alberta Tijerina and Zita Rosa Tijerina, both of Edinburg, and one sister, Anita Garza of Linn-San Manuel, Texas. 25 grandchildren; 50 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren also survive her. Herlinda was a loyal VIP member of the America Legion Unit Post 406 in Edinburg. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. A rosary will take place at 7:00pm and can be viewed online at www.legacychapelsrgv.com. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00pm on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral Services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
