Jose Guillermo O’Connor, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend to all, passed away, peacefully at his home in McAllen, TX on March 14, 2018, at the age of 79. Mr. O'Connor fought a heroic battle with stomach cancer.
Guillermo was born in El Progreso Yoro, Honduras in 1939. He moved to the United States and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961 where he fought for our country in the Vietnam War. He loved his family, friends, cruising in his 1939 Jaguar convertible, fishing and grilling in the backyard. Guillermo was known for his love for his family, free spirit, generosity, personality and his infamous quote… “Life is Beautiful”.
Willie is survived by his loving, wife of 40 years, Laura G. O’Connor; his children Joe (Maria), Maria de Lourdes (Tony), Carlos (Tina), Sean (Starla), Kevin (Lindsey) and Liam (Alina); 13 grandchildren, Krystein, Steven, Alyk, Adriana, Jacob, Viviana, Chloe, Melanie, Kael, Kollin, Shae, Stella, Kash; 3 great-grandchildren, Arturo, Ava, Alyk II; a brother, Roberto Rodriguez; two nephews, Ronny, Hector (Aura); five nieces, Sofia, Eva, Raquel Connor, Mryna and Erika Rodriguez.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, with a 9 a.m. prayer service, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd, in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas with full military honors.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
