PHARR — Gregorio "Gollo"Garza, died on October 15, 2012 in Pharr, Texas. Born on April 24, 1929, he was the son of Fructuoso and Olivia Garza, who precede him in death. Gregorio is survived by Maria, his loving wife of 56 years; his children, Ubaldo Garza (Mireya), Irma Garza, Mary O. Gonzalez (Juan), Gregoria Garza (Arturo Jr.), Olivia Garza (Lucio), Minerva Garza (Guadalupe Jr.), Rene Vicente Garza (Alisa R.), and Angelica Maria Garza. 15 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive him, in addition to his siblings; Conrado Garza (Belen), Marcelino Garza (Alicia), Fructuoso Garza, Jr., (Esther), Enedelia G. Lopez (Demetrio), Medardo Garza (Antonia), Hermila De La Garza (Mario), and Luis Rey Garza (Sylvia). Gregorio is preceded in death by his granddaughterChrisolEille Gonzalez, and his sister Elida Cantu.
Gregorio was born in El Brasilal, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was an avid farmer in worked many years in the Agricultural industry. In addition to being a hardworking and humble man, he instilled many values in his family and children alike.Gregorio's love of life was infectious, and his sharing of his memories brought joy and laughter to all who heard them. Gregorio never met a stranger, young or old; for him there were only friends and future friends.
Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 between the hours of five o'clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock in the evening with a Rosary beginning at seven at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will commence at two o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church located in McAllen, Texas. Interment will follow in Palm Valley Memorial Gardens.
