McAllen - Evangelina Olson, 56, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, May 13, 2021. She was born in Brownsville, TX to Roberto Nieto and Evangelina Casanova. She graduated from Pan American University with her Masters degree in December of 1989.
Mrs. Olson's teaching career began at Crocket Elementary as an academic coach. She guided her students to transition from monolingual to bilingual. She then moved to Gonzalez elementary where she would end her career. She taught as a second grade teacher as well as a dyslexia teacher. She wanted to use these talents for teaching, given to her by the Lord, to help each and every student that needed her help. She treasured every opportunity she was given to be with her students and loved her coworkers from Crocket and Gonzalez and cherished her friends from both. She loved to share her faith and knowledge to all who would listen.
Eva loved the ocean, and so she would visit the beach and take trips to Cancun with family, so she could see the beautiful scenery and the most beautiful ocean. She also had a love for music that she shared with her husband, Arlyn, and was often heard singing accompanied by him in voice and piano. Her love for music did not just lie in singing, but also playing both the organ and piano as well. In addition, on Sundays she loved to relax with a glass of wine while watching the latest Netflix shows. While on Saturdays she loved to go shopping all around the RGV. However, above all else she loved to spend time with her family the most.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roberto Nieto and Evangelina Casanova; her brother Roberto Nieto; and her beloved husband Arlyn Olson. Mrs. Olson is survived by her children, Evette and Ashlyn Trigo; three sisters, Aida, Frances, and Rosie; three godchildren, Elizzette Ibarra, Benjamin Shuler and Rosalie Shuler; numerous nieces and nephews; and her fur-children Tsuki and Oreo Olson and her grand-fur-child Jupiter Jupies Rodriguez.
Family will receive friends and family beginning at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg, Texas.
