EDINBURG - Erlinda C. Rodriguez, 70, entered eternal rest Friday, October 6, 2023, in McAllen surrounded with love from her family. Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Rio Hondo, Texas, a fighter from birth as a premature baby, and she carried that spirit with her throughout her remarkable life. She loved her entire family with all of her heart, and their pain and joy were hers as well. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being near her family and passing down cherished family traditions.
Erlinda was a dedicated military spouse, a role she embraced wholeheartedly as she accompanied her husband, Trinidad Rodriguez Sr., on their worldly adventures. They resided in various places, most notably in Washington, Germany, and Georgia, experiencing the rich tapestry of cultures and making lasting memories along the way. Throughout her life, Erlinda worked in various roles, including as a migrant worker, a waitress, an AAFES worker, a hostess, and as a dedicated volunteer at the Department of Health and Human Services. Her unwavering commitment to serving others with pure love mirrored her deep faith and devotion to our Heavenly Father, who was the rock that propelled her forward each and every day.
Mrs. Rodriguez was not only a devoted military spouse and hardworking woman but also a loving and nurturing presence in the lives of those she touched. She treated everyone as family and became a mom, aunt, sister, or grandmother to anyone who entered her home. Her warm heart and open arms made her an amazing confidant to all who sought her guidance and support.
Erlinda had a passion for cooking and baking. Born into a family of 15, she learned early on how to make a dollar stretch to feed her family in times of hardship, always creating meals that filled the stomachs and hearts of anyone who entered her home. She delighted in preparing delicious meals that brought her family together, and teaching her family her recipes that will endure for generations to come.
Mrs. Rodriguez was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio Corpus and Josefa Gonzales; two siblings, Lionel Corpus and Ester Castaneda. Erlinda is survived by her three children, Trinidad (Kimberley M.) Rodriguez Jr., Eleazar (Kristal L.) Rodriguez III, and Linda G. Rodriguez; eight grandchildren, Xavier M. Rodriguez, Divine A. Lippolt, Eleazar Rodriguez IV, Lillianna M. Rodriguez, Destiny R. Salinas, Phoebe M. Rodriguez, Aleighnna D. Rodriguez, and Aleassia N. Rodriguez; four brothers, and seven sisters; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Legacy Chapels, located at 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
Erlinda Rodriguez will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, devotion, and selflessness will forever live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
