Enriqueta "Queta" Canales

MCALLEN - Enriqueta "Queta" Canales entered eternal rest at the age of 92 on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Canales was preceded in death by her husband, Eladio "Lalo" Canales; her son, Mauro Enrique Canales, son-in-law, Rev. Osvaldo Vela; her parents, Florencio and Esther Serna Reyna; three sisters, Gloria Villarreal, Conradita Salinas, and Julia Reyna.

Our precious mother gave her time and love to her family and friends. She had the gift of listening and was always ready to give good advice. She was truly a joy to be around. In her passing she leaves us a legacy of love, wisdom and guidance. She will be greatly missed but her presence lives on through those whom she touched. She led her family well in faith, patience, and love. She instilled the value of family and strength in everyone fortunate to have met her.

Mrs. Canales is survived by her four children, Diamantina (Rolando) Molina, Sylvia Vela, Myrna (Jorge) Molina, and Mario Canales; her daughter-in-law, Tina Canales; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Florencio Reyna Jr., Roberto (Rosa) Reyna, Ricardo (Rosie) Reyna, Ninfa Salinas, Esther (Alfredo) Marquez, and Rebecca Chavez; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 9 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
