EDELMIRO VELA
MCALLEN - Edelmiro Vela Sr., 62, entered eternal rest peacefully on May 6, 2024 in the comfort of his own house surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and hard work, having spent 35 years of his life contributing to the success of Enterprise Products.
Born in Roma in 1961, Edelmiro was known for his unwavering commitment to his work and his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend to many. His kindness, integrity, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Throughout his career at Enterprise, Edelmiro demonstrated exceptional leadership and professionalism. His colleagues remember him as a mentor and a friend, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer guidance to those around him.
Outside of work, Edelmiro enjoyed watching the Cowboys, hunting and drinking a cold Budweiser Select. He found joy in working on the Hole and the Roof Ranch, guiding his grandson Ayden in life and his enthusiasm was contagious to those around him.
Edelmiro is survived by his wife Sandra A. Vela, children Eloisa Vela, Eliza Vela Newsom (Jesse), Edelmiro Vela Jr., Miranda Vela, Ayden Vela, his mother Elva G. Vela, brothers Eugeneio Vela, Alberto Vela, Adalberto Vela, Ricardo Vela, and Granddaughter Risa Newsom who will continue to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy of hard work and kindness.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.with a 7 p.m. rosary, Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Brain Tumor Society or American Brain Tumor Association , in honor of Edelmiro's memory.
Edelmiro will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
