MISSION - Baldemar Farias Sr., 85, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in Edinburg. Mr. Farias was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Amelia Farias; his sister, Maria Elena Farias; sister-in-law, Anita Farias.
Baldemar was born on March 10, 1938, in Tynan, Bee County, Texas. He grew up in Los Ebanos, Texas and graduated from La Joya High School in 1956 and later joined the United States Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged in 1964. While serving in the military, Baldemar married the love of his life Maria "Lupita" Barrera on June 3, 1962. He Primarily worked in law enforcement all his life starting with the San Clemente Police Department in California in 1966. Baldemar moved back to Texas with the United States Border Patrol, Rio Grande Valley Sector in 1970. He retired from the Border Patrol as a Special Agent with the Anti-Smuggling Unit in 1995.
Mr. Farias is survived by his wife, Maria "Lupita" Farias; four children, Baldemar (Irene) Farias Jr., Antonio (Jill) Farias, Carlos (Rosie) Farias, and Daniel (Trisha) Farias; six grandchildren, Baldemar III, Andres, Anthony, Jackie, Gabrielle, and Daniel Jr; numerous great-grandchildren and extended family; four siblings, Eliazar Farias, Elia (Rafael) Ochoa, Estela (Santana) Gutierrez, and Edelmira (Rene) Cedillo; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 12 noon Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery with full Border Patrol Honors.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
