ZOILA AGUILAR MENDEZ

SAN ISIDRO - Zoila Aguilar Mendez, 88, went to be with our Lord, Monday, June 25, 2018 in Edinburg surrounded by her daughter. Mrs. Mendez was born in Weslaco, Texas and had lived in San Isidro all of her life. Mrs. Mendez is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto Mendez; her father, Blas Aguilar; her mother, Vicenta Alvarado; father-in-law Martin Mendez Sr.; mother-in-law, Guadalupe Olivarez; sisters-in-law Julia Mendez , Alicia Mendez and Angelina Mendez; brothers-in-law, Manuel Villarreal and Juan Cruz Sr.

She grew up in San Isidro and married Roberto Mendez on June 15, 1952.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  Mrs. Mendez worked in their family business until she retired.  Zoila and Roberto had three children, Ricardo, Maria Teresa, and Roberto.  Both sons passed away shortly after birth.  Zoila and Roberto were active in their church and community.  They both served as Ley Ministers for many years. 

Mrs. Mendez is survived by her daughter, Maria Teresa Mendez-Aruaz, son-in-law, Dr. Greg Arauz; her brothers-in-law, Martin Mendez Jr. his wife Linda and Guadalupe Mendez his wife Guadalupe; numerous cousins,nieces and nephews and their children.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2018 at San Isidro Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Montalvo Cemetery in San Isidro.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
