ROBERT DE LOS SANTS EDINBURG - Robert De Los Santos, 48, was born January 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas. Formerly from Austin, Texas he was living in Houston for the past 3 years. Robert grew up in Edinburg and graduated from Edinburg High School. Participated in many activities, and usually excelled in them. In his early years he played little league baseball, basketball, and ran track where he earned numerous awards and trophies. He earned a number of merit badges in scouting. In High school, he mainly focused on Future Farmers of America (FFA), where he was an Officer and earned many awards in showmanship, speaking, and other events. His passion was welding, creating, and fixing things. He spoke highly of his FFA teachers, especially, Mr. Vela. After graduating from Edinburg High School, he attended Southwest Texas State College (Now Texas State) in San Marcos for three years. He partly worked his way through college holding several part-time jobs. One of these jobs was with a high-tech company that made quality hoses. (water, air, gas, oil) He left college to work full-time with this company and became the Director for Maintenance and Quality Control. He kept production running smoothly for many years, until he decided to move to the RGV. In the RGV, he worked as quality control manager for Fortuna Enterprises, LTD., a land development company specializing in income producing properties. Robert decided to follow his passion and became a certified welder, and did welding for oil companies for several years. He was a rigger for construction companies, and earned the highest certifications available in rigging. He was at the top of his profession when God "tapped" him for a "higher calling". Robert is survived by his two children, Emilio and Emily De Los Santos; mother, Nora Benavides; Father Gilberto De Los Santos and wife Juanita; his siblings: Michael (Patsy) De Los Santos, Marisa De Los Santos and Cristal (Joey) Mejia; numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, and uncles including David and Sonia Gutierrez. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service, Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
