Mario was married to his high school sweetheart for 39 years. He was so proud of his children’s accomplishments and would love to share stories about them with friends and colleagues. He was a loyal partner with H-E-B for 41 years where he worked at several stores, holding various positions throughout his career. He was voted Spirit of H-E-B among other awards. He also worked for the Frito Lay Company in the last few years where he mentored and helped train employees with his vast knowledge of the retail business and strong work ethic. He served his community as a proud member of the McAllen Palm City Lions Club for 28 years where he held various offices and led many projects. He was awarded many honors including Lion of the Year. He coached his son’s first baseball team and loved watching him play baseball all through college. He was also inspired and proud watching his daughter sing worship at her church. He was a proud Grandpops to his first grandchild, Mateo, and loved FaceTiming with him. Mario loved hunting, fishing, gardening, detailing his truck and Jeep, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a friend to everyone he met and will be missed by many. He and his family are grateful to his doctors and medical staff at MD Anderson, Texas Oncology, and Amara Hospice Care for the treatment and care he received in the last two years.
