JOSE EDWARDO "JOE" LOPEZ
MCALLEN - Jose Edwardo (Joe) Lopez (74) went to his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 22, 2019 in Edinburg surrounded by his family. Born in Raymondville, Texas he had lived in McAllen most of his life. Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Refugio and Eva Renaud Lopez and his brother-in-law, Phil Crockett.
Mr. Lopez is survived by his wife Alicia S. Lopez; four children, Marc (Brooke), Michael, Amanda Vair and Aaron (Nichole) Alvarado; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan, Thalia, Tristen, Trey, Sebastian, Judah, and Justus; one great-grandson, Jacah Vair; his two siblings, Maria Luisa (Klaus) Bachmann and Eloise Crockett; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Joe was courageous in his journey and was driven by purpose as he dedicated his life to Criminal Justice. He served as military police for the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War in Okinawa, Japan and as the Director for the Hidalgo County Adult Probation Department for over 25 years. He believed that he was on an incredible journey, and he alone was responsible for the quality of it. Joe’s immense strength of character prepared him well for his final journey where his life actually begins.
With full military honors Joe’s final celebration of life on earth will be on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the RGV Veterans Cemetery on Inspiration Road in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
