Javier Del Castillo

JAVIER DELCASTILLO MCALLEN - In the city of McAllen,Texas. On September 29, 2020, day of the Three Archangels, Miguel, Gabriel and Rafael, Mr. Javier Raúl Del Castillo Garza, age 78, surrounded by his family, welcomed the call of the Supreme Creator to eternal life. Born in the city of Los Angeles, California in 1942, he was taken to the city of Monterrey, N.L. Mexico, in 1943, due to his Father's work. There he also had relatives of his Mother with whom he spent his childhood and youth. Being a young man of 18 years, he decided to forge himself as a good man and in 1960 he returned to Los Angeles on his own accord. There he studied and had his first jobs. Javier was always a devout Christian and in 1962, one Sunday at church he met the one who was to be his wife for 56 years until today, María Luisa Valverde (Lulú). They were married on December 14, 1963. From that loving union was born their daughters Carmen Aurora (Yoya), María Luisa (Malú) and Geraldina (Dina/Gerri). Thinking of a more peaceful life for their family, in 1971 they decided to return to McAllen, Texas, where Javier spent the rest of his life working and supporting different labor and social organizations. The jovial character of Javier's was determined at a young age. He wanted to make a difference in the way people were treated. He tried to help and support the weaker, always trying to do justice. That character led him to lead the fight for the labor rights of the workers at Montgomery Ward (where he worked) and to lead the legal fight to begin and defend a union, which cost him almost 10 years of his life. In that time he never gave up until he achieved his objectives, for the good of the workers. Javier also participated as an active member of the Eagles Club, in Pharr. TX. for more than five years, having had the honor of being President of the club for one year. Throughout all that time they supported various causes in favor of the community. Javier is one of those people who is difficult to find. Those who give us the strength to face difficult situations in life. Those who inspire with facts, to move forward regardless of adversity. He was a warrior. He was an example in life, who with his actions strengthened entire families. Javier is survived by his wife María Luisa Valverde (Lulú), his daughters Carmen Aurora Vargas(Audelio Vargas), Maria luisa Arellano (Felipe Arellano) and Geraldina Del Castillo (Dina / Gerri), His 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, 20 nieces/nephews, his brothers Arnoldo and Enrique and his sister Mirthala who will greatly miss him, but will always carry him in their hearts. Anna Rubio from from Our Lady of Sorrows Church will be reciting the rosary followed by Pastor Ron Smith from BT Church with the closing ceremony. "Whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. " Galatians 6:8 On behalf of the family services will be private but we will be accepting floral arrangements.
