Ernesto G. Martinez

Mr. Ernesto G. Martinez,83, entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 16, 2018 surrounded by his family at the Amara Hospice facility in Edinburg. Ernesto was born on June 9, 1935 in Altamira, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Tranquilino and San Juanita (Godinez) Martinez. Ernesto had lived and worked in Chicago and Houston, but he called Edinburg his home for the last 30+ years of his life.  Ernesto worked in the oil field as a welder most of his life. Ernesto enjoyed dancing, listening to his favorite music: Son Huasteco, mariachi and guapangos, fishing, picking at the flea market, his Mexican culture and playing guitar. Ernesto truly lived life to its fullest. Rest in peace Ernesto G. Martinez.                                   

Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: David, Benjamin, Guadalupe, and his sister Ursula (Tula).   

Left to cherish his memory are his four children; Herminia (Roberto) Colegio, San Juanita Martinez, Myrna (Baldemar) Morales, Ernesto L. Martinez, Jr.; Sibligs-Enrique, Viviana, Juanita Martinez, Brigido Banda; Grandchildren-David Tijerina,Jr.,Claudia Crystal Estrada, Gabriel Colegio, Alysha Marie Andaverde, Lauren Renee Colegio, Caleb Baldemar Morales; great grandchild-Eden Pearl Tijerina; and former wife Lilia Martinez-Lopez.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, Ausgut 20, 2018 at Legacy Chapels,4610 S. Jackson Rd. in Edinburg from5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A celebration of llife service will begin at 7:00 pm

Funeral arrangements and services are being handled by Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
