Christy Kesey-Barrett - Passed with peace and grace on February 14, 2018, with her mother at her side. Survived by her sons Jonathan Kesey, Joshua Kesey, Jacob Kesey; daughter Kaitlyn Bowman; grandchildren: Bradden Kesey, Booklyn Kesey, Hadley Kesey. She is preceded in death by her son James Kesey; her sister, Donna Klement.
Christy was born in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Howard Payne University and was crowned Howard Payne Homecoming Princess in 1981 and elected Miss HPU and Senior class Beauty in 1982. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and moved to Pecos, Texas, as a young woman to begin her career as an educator. After marrying Monte, she threw her energies into raising their four children, homeschooling them. Upon moving to Monahans, Texas, Christy resumed work as a third grade teacher. At this time Christy earned a Master’s of Education in Counseling from Sul Ross State University. She then counseled young children at Cameron Elementary in Odessa, Texas. Christy, was a member of Daughters of American Revolution. She will be always remembered as a loving mother, nana and whose greatest passion was helping others.
A service will be held at 12 noon, Monday, February 18, 2018, at Legacy Chapels, 4610 S Jackson Road in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. The family wishes to thank Sabrina Armstrong, M.D. Anderson, and Lenora Smith for their care. If you wish, donations may be made to Share Our Strength, or the charity of your choice.
She leaves us filled with memories.
