ATANACIA CUELLAR TELLEZ
PHARR - Atanacia Cuellar Tellez, 72, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, August 16, 2018 at her residence in Pharr surrounded by her family. Born in Mexico and formerly of McAllen she had lived in Pharr for the past year. Mrs. Tellez is preceded in death by her father, Clemente Cuellar; two siblings, Jose Luis and Ernesto Cuellar.
Mrs. Tellez is survived by her loving husband Dr. Gilbert Farmer and two children, Veronica L. Salazar, and Jessica M. Tellez; her granddaughter, Viviana L. Salazar; her mother, Josefina G. Cuellar; four siblings, Marcelino Cuellar, Roberto Cuellar, Maria "Mimi" (Travis Campbell) Morales, and Josefina "Josie" (Alan) Schmidt; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Annie grew up in the Linn/San Manuel area. She graduated from Pan American University with a Masters degree in Psychology. She lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and worked at the University of Wisconsin where she was an advocate for migrant workers rights and taught adult education. She moved back to the Valley in 1982 to be closer to her parents. She had a 25+ year career with the State of Texas as an AFDC case worker, a facilitator for the Women Survival Skills Program, and worked for the Texas Workforce Commission. She retired in May of 2008. She spent her retirement traveling with her beloved husband and granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Celebration of Life service, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels.
